Bad Doctor Experience

Have you ever had a BAD experience with a doctor? I had a few, but there is one particular doctor that I will NEVER forget. I was very young when I started having some bad stomach cramping issues. I worked at a hospital, so I knew a few doctors that worked there. They referred me to this certain doctor… I won’t mention the doctor’s name. So I started going to this doctor. After a year or so and dozens of tests, he diagnosed me with Endometriosis. At that time, it wasn’t a very well know condition. When he did his diagnosis, he determined that I would need to have a surgery. This surgery was called a laparoscope’s. He said, “This will help with the pain and other symptoms that you are having”. The down side to this condition is that there really is no cure. The only way to fix the problem is to have a total hysterectomy. With me being so young and wanted children, I opted not to have that done (hysterectomy). After the scope surgery was complete, I did feel better. This didn’t last very long. I had 6 surgeries with in 5 years time. What the doctor forgot to mention was that with surgery… came scar tissue. I was young and didn’t know any better. I just did what he said for me to do and I did it. Within this 5 years time, I had spent so much money with the visits, tests, and surgeries that I more than likely bought him a very nice home and brand new car. Another thing that I should’ve noticed at the time, but I didn’t, was that he kept moving his office and hospitals that he worked out of. Needless to say there was more to this doctors doing than I was aware of. I found out much later that he was doing unnecessary operations and kept loosing his privileges at the hospitals from them. That’s one of the reasons that he kept moving around so much. Naturally, here I am sitting and wondering… was I one of those patients that had unnecessary tests and surgeries done???? I have another story to tell about how the delivery of my first child transpired with the same doctor. So… tune in next time for the part II of this story.
